The South Carolina Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will convene its 58th District Conference on October 5-6, 2018, at the Embassy Suites North Charleston Airport Hotel and Convention Center (5055 International Blvd, North Charleston, SC). Themed “The Urgency of Now: A Moral and Social Justice Imperative,” the two-day conference plans to make a huge impact in the North Charleston community and provide strategies and initiatives that the South Carolina Chapters of the historic Fraternity can implement in all communities statewide.
On Friday, October 5, 7-8:30 p.m., during its Public Program, the Fraternity will recognize and honor four new South Carolina Living Legends from chapters in the Charleston area. Additionally, during the Public Program, the Fraternity will continue to commemorate the Emanuel Nine who were tragically slain on June 17, 2015, at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church, in Charleston, South Carolina. This will be done by honoring individuals and organizations who embody their spirit and service to others. A reception is planned afterward to further recognize the honorees. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Emanuel A.M.E. Church.
Enclosed is the official press release, with the following summary of the honorees.
