Brothers of Alpha and Visitors:
Welcome to the New SCAlpha.org. In these times of living in an “always connected” world, it is imperative that a highly esteemed organization have effective tools for communication to the public and it’s members alike. Brother William Spears, District Director of the South Carolina Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. recognized this need and addressed it in his “Areas of Focus” strategy he communicated to the district. In his Areas of Focus he stated that our current tools were out of date and more importantly, difficult to use and maintain, he then called on Brother William L. Williams to gather a team to investigate and find solutions to issues.
Our current Website management tools are currently out of date and are difficult to maintain. …. It is very important that we have internal
information tools that meet the brotherhood needs and it is equally important that our external
communication outlets display the professionalism that is expected from Alpha. I have asked Brother
William Williams, MIS Chairman to lead a team to investigate our current systems, determine what we
need, and recommend to the District Board an information technology strategy.
I am proud to say that I was a member of that team and the issues we faced with our website in past will not plague us in 2014 and forward. Brother Williams along with the MIS team were daunted with the great task of bringing SCAlpha.org into the 21st Century. Many late nights, long days, conference calls, meetings and planning sessions have brought us to the new SCAlpha.org. The website now features streamlined information on the home page, highlighting activities from brothers across the district, as well as allowing brothers to see upcoming district events on our all new district calendar of events. The home page also features district contact information, quotes from our 7 Jewels and a district news section which will allow the district to make announcements to the public in an easy to access manner. Other resources on the website are still available such as national and district history, district officer and chapter directories, chapter resources and membership information. The UI(User Interface) of SCAlpha.org has been drastically improved and features a responsive framework, which means it will look and function properly no matter what device you’re using it on. Over the past 6 months we’ve learned to better utilize the tools which we have been given to bring SCAlpha.org to you in the past and we have made it even easier for brothers to make changes and add content, now brothers can and log into and register an account with SCAlpha.org to access private content and (if given proper permissions) make changes to the website. This is only the beginning of changes to come, we will continue to update and change the website as needed. Thank you all for your patience and support.
